Adding Value through Data
I’m a design professional who has enjoyed leadership roles, including senior management, over most of my 40-year career. My primary interest in data analytics is to make everyday information easily accessible to the design and construction industry, to both minimize chasing around, and also eliminate tedious tasks, such as input and counting.
I have spearheaded new technologies my entire career and eagerly leveraged the potential of new software for 30 of those years. In the last decade I have embraced the power of data analytics, and am eager to share my perspectives with others who wish to get into data analytics.
A key principle of my career involves “keeping your feet on the ground”. The principle is significant: you can have great intentions, and use the latest cool technologies, but if you’re not using them for something that adds value to an organization, then it’s not going to drive meaningful change. I still keep my eyes on the stars, but effectiveness is the most important goal.
