Adding Value through Data
AEC Business Analytics is a data analytics firm focused on providing innovative data services for the Architecture, Engineering & Construction (AEC) community. It exists because of a need for firms that can address the uses of data in the design and construction environment.
The AEC industry has very unique goals for data: tracking projects, deadlines and finances while we really focus on the design activities. Most general ERPs are not equipped to manage these kinds of projects. During my time in Operations, it was very difficult to find people who could talk about databases from the AEC perspective. My goal is to fix that.
The company founder is an experienced technology-driven architect and business-focused leader who leverages new data tools and techniques to help owners and AEC leaders efficiently and effectively manage their operations and leverage their assets.
My primary interest in data analytics grew from a desire to make design information management more accessible to the design and construction industry, to minimize both ‘chasing around,’ and also tedious tasks, such as data input and basic counting.
I have spearheaded new technologies for the building design industry my entire career, and have eagerly leveraged the potential of new software for 30 of those years. In the last decade I have embraced the power of data analytics, and am eager to share my perspectives with others who wish to know more about data analytics.

A key principle of my career involves “keeping your feet on the ground” even as you survey the stars. The principle is significant: you can have great intentions, and use the latest cool technologies, but if you’re not using them for something that adds value to an organization, then it’s not going to drive meaningful change. I still keep my eyes on the stars, but effectiveness on the ground for clients is the most important goal.
