Data Analytics for Architecture, Engineering and Construction

Are you frustrated with a data system that you’ve used for years, but still can't tell what's actually going on? That's where AEC Business Analytics can help.

It's not uncommon for organizations to struggle daily with a full-featured data system that successfully stores all their enterprise data. The secret to success however, is to create the right reporting of that data.

Whether it's company operations, building assets in multiple facilities, or managing marketing and client lists, AEC Business Analytics helps clients understand their data workflows with a lot more precision and richness than their current data systems natively provide.

Firm Operations

Many firms struggle with antiquated operations information systems while they try to manage their workload, revenue and profitability. Data analytics is the perfect way to reveal trends and patterns in in staff workload and business development data.

My extensive previous experience has been in creating insights by extracting data from opaque data sources, and then enhancing that data with extra fields as well as better visualization of current status and future projections.

Common visualizations are revenue projections, staff workload projections, business development tracking and financial profitability and growth.

Asset Management

Data analytics is a powerful tool for owners who manage multiple facilities and assets. Extracted information from CAD, BIM or product files can be integrated with FM systems to help owners catalog and better leverage the assets they have, highlighting maintenance issues, inventory, and developing forward-looking budgets.

My previous projects have included analyzing asset building condition studies for large facilities so that owners can better comprehend their facilities. The results were published in the article above highlighting an owner who wanted to mitigate the risk of failing equipment by having a data-centered tool that they could use for evaluation and budget planning.

Project Delivery

Project managers frequently do the best they can with the office tools they have picked up, but there are many commonly available productivity applications that can be a huge benefit in project management. Even for those who use Excel on a daily basis, a good 90% of the that tool remain unused even though it could add huge value and streamline many processes for project managers.

AEC Business Analytics takes a very broad view of tools that are available, but focuses on only commonly available tools such as Excel, SharePoint and MS Lists - all Microsoft 365 products - which most firms already have in-house. Leveraging these unused tools can have huge benefits for firms who can integrate them into their existing processes.
